She is an aggressive former Senior Trial Attorney with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; where in her district, she set and continues to hold the record for jury trial and jury award victories. Ms. Hicks-Powe is a specialist in Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act (Employment related issues), Americans with Disabilities Act, (ADA), Age Discrimination Act, and Uniform Solders Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).  While with the EEOC, she served as the spokesperson for the agency in its Technical Assistance Program.  She also conducted onsite training and advised employers regarding diversity and compliance with Title VII, the ADA and the ADEA.  She is a recognized leader among her peers serving or having served as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Employment Lawyers Association; Legal Services; Alabama Lawyers Association and the Magic  City Bar Association.

 As a mediator, she has mediated countless disputes including numerous cases through the US Postal System’s REDRESS mediation program.  Ms. Hicks Powe successfully mediated one hundred percent of the cases assigned to her.  Understanding the importance that training and education have on workplace compliance and performance, Ms Hicks-Powe has taken her courtroom skills of persuasion into Corporate America where she delivers high impact compliance-and-performance based training and motivational teaching. Ms. Hick Powe’s philosophy is that “It is impossible to motivate someone to change their behavior.  The best we can do is inspire them to be self-motivated, by teaching the skill sets need for success.” Accordingly, she advises employers, designs training modules, conducts training seminars and delivers key note addresses.  Ms. Hicks Powe’s presentation skills have been fine tuned through working with one of America’s most outstanding key note speakers, and former talk show host, Les Brown.She is a member of the Les Brown Speaker’s Show Case.
